Hello, I am researching the Behme family surname. My ancestor, Julius Henry Derek Behme, came from the region of Niedersachsen , ( Lower Saxony), in north-western Germany. He was born in the small town of Oelper on the outskirts of Braunschweig on May 17, 1812. He later immigrated to the United States, and is next found marrying Mary Ann Ketchum in New York. I am attempting to collect all instances of Behme genealogical information, in order to try and trace back the Behme roots in Germany. So far, the furthest I can trace is Julius; I hope by contacting other Behme researchers I can discover my own ancestors.
