        Alvin Coe Voris was born April 27, 1827 in Stark County, Ohio. His parents were Peter Voris and Lydia Coe, and he married Lydia Allyn on September 25, 1853 in Akron, Ohio.  He graduated from Oberlin College, and became a lawyer, his partner being General Lucius V. Bierce. Alvin was a member of the Ohio State Legislature from 1859-60. Biography appears in the "History of Summit County, Ohio". "During the war, he wrote his wife every day. His wife kept the letter s, (numbered more than 1000) which are now in possession of his granddaughter, Mrs. Allan C. Johnson of Akron, Ohio (nee Katherine Baird). The clipping states 6 grandchildren's names including a Mrs. Lydia Kolbe of Philadelphia, PA widow of former University of Akron president, Park R. KOLBE." He died on July 28, 1904 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio.
